First stop of the papal visit (6-8 June). Madrid will host the most institutional and ecclesial events: the meeting with the King and Queen at Zarzuela, the Corpus Christi Mass in Cibeles, the historic address to Congress and the Senate, and the diocesan gathering at the Bernabéu.

Barcelona will be the cultural and symbolic stop of the visit (9-10 June). The central event will be the blessing of the Tower of Jesus Christ at the Sagrada Familia, coinciding with the centenary of Gaudí’s death and his beatification process. The Monastery of Montserrat will also be visited.

First visit of a Pope to the Canary Islands. On 11 June, Gran Canaria will be the social focus of the visit with a strong emphasis on the migration crisis. The Pope will visit the Arguineguín dock, symbol of migrant arrivals, and celebrate Mass at the stadium.

Tenerife will be the final stop of the papal visit on 12 June. The Pope will visit the Las Raíces migrant reception centre and celebrate the closing Mass at the Port of Santa Cruz before returning to Rome.
